FRIDAY 25th JULY Grandparents Day Liturgy You are invited to attend a Liturgy to celebrate Grandparents to be held at: St Matthews Church Windsor On: Friday 25th July at 9:45 am. After the Liturgy please join your grandchildren in their classrooms followed by morning tea at 11:00am. The Book fair will also be open during Morning Tea time
Dear Parents, I have wonderful news. Ella Karberis has returned home from hospital and is doing wonderfully well. The procedures and treatment she received at Westmead Children's Hospital has apparently worked with great success. The family wants especially to pass on their thanks to our community for their prayers, support and practical assistance (through those yummy meals prepared by our generous folks!). Ella is keen to reconnect with all her friends here at school. We are certainly looking ahead to when she can be with us again hopefully this year!

This term will be an exciting one for our community. I will be engaging our community in some new initiatives many of which I have spoken with some of you about. From the REC Greetings everyone! Peace be with you! Hoping everyone had a great holiday and ready for an exciting term of learning and supporting each other on our journey of faith. We pray for all those in our community who are sick or suffering. We ask our mother Mary
to give them comfort and peace. We also pray for all the children preparing for Confirmation. This term the Parish of St Matthew's is offering a Baptism Program for children. An information meeting will be held here at St Matthew's at 6.30 pm next Thursday, the 24th of July. This program was a great success two years ago. This time, we are inviting families to be mentors for these families, to support and encourage them in this process. All welcome to join us. Next Friday we celebrate Grandparents Day. On the 26th of July it is the Feast of Saint Joachim and Saint Ann the parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary
. We invite all our Grandparents and parents to join us in prayer and morning tea. The classrooms will be open to you to see what our students are learning. Just to remind everyone about the Knitting Club will commence in Week 2 . If anyone would like to donate 8 ply wool, knitting needles ( size 4) or crochet needles, it will be greatly appreciated.

What's Happening in Year 2 Last Term, Year 2 wrote their own Narrative stories and published them in a book format
. In the last week of Term 2, Year 2 students read their stories to the kindergarten students
, who were also learning about Narratives. The students from Year 2 enjoyed the process of coming up with their own story, making a draft on a storyboard, making many changes to their story and then finally publishing and illustrating their work. They especially enjoyed sharing their stories and hearing the feedback from Kindergarten. This Term we look forward to sharing our work about "Under the Ocean" and "Make it Grow" with other students.
KINDERGARTEN Welcome back to Term 3. Kindergarten are very excited to begin their new HSIE unit "Places We Know" and have already shared some of their great knowledge of the local area. We look forward to our weekly mini-excursions which will allow us to explore our local surroundings further. Mrs Cole and Miss Cullen Year 1 Welcome back Year 1 to a very busy and exciting term. A special welcome to our new class member, Jack Bond. We are all really looking forward to the Athletics Carnival on Friday. As many children have the sniffles, we would appreciate some extra boxes of tissues and hand sanitizer if you are able. Remember that we are always willing to chat with parents but usually need you to make an appointment so we can give you all our attention and sufficient time. Mrs Cividin and Miss Treoni Year 3 In Year 3, over the next two weeks, we are starting our new topic of photography in Creative Arts
. We are exploring techniques used in photography using the iPad in the classroom. In HSIE we are looking at the topic 'Who will buy?', where students will be exploring the needs and wants of consumers. Students will also be looking at the history of shopping in Australia and the shopping experiences of an `older person' in comparison to the way in which technology has changed shopping today! Students will be investigating an 'older' person at home to interview them about how times have changed in terms of shops and technology. In PDHPE, students will be participating in particular techniques in gymnastics on Monday for an hour. Students will be starting their new 'Willy Wonka's Homeworkopoly' game, which will be due Friday of every week. We are very excited to commence term 3! Thank you, Year 3 teachers.

A big THANK YOU to all the generous parents and grandparents who volunteered for Term 2. Term 3 calendar on "Carebookings" is still open To access the web portal for Term 3, go to www.carebookings.com.au/book Using the event code: WNJK5 simply login and add your name to a day that suits you. The Canteen will continue to open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and will be closed on Tuesday and Thursday. However, if you have to remove your name from a date in "carebookings", it is your responsibility to swap with another volunteer.
