Consortium for Advanced Studies Abroad (CASA) Program in Cuba Based in Havana, the Consortium of Advanced Studies (CASA) program in Cuba provides students with an unparalleled opportunity to examine firsthand the key political, social, economic and cultural issues affecting this island nation and its Caribbean and Latin America
n neighbors. One of the longest running socialist experiments in history, Cuba is at a critical crossroad. Its political and economic spheres have long been subjects of interest and debate providing fertile ground for exciting academic inquiry. At A Glance Program Dates: Fall semester (late August mid-December) or spring semester (late January mid-May) Language of Instruction: Spanish Housing: Shared rooms carefully selected Eligibility: Open to Brown undergraduate students
and students from other CASA member schools. Applications are encouraged and open to visiting students outside of the CASA consortium. Requirements: Students must be in good academic standing and have completed Advanced Spanish II/HISP 0600 (sixth semester college-level Spanish language
), or the equivalent. Applicants must also demonstrate an interest in Cuban and Caribbean issues as indicated, preferably by coursework pertaining to the region. Courses Students enroll in up to four courses taught in Spanish through Casa de las amйricas or in a combination of courses offered through Casa de las amйricas and up to two direct enrollment courses through the University of Havana.
